This post lists some of the things I would suggest to anyone considering a trip to Malta.
- Stay in Valletta: it’s close to all the action ferries buses etc. I did enjoy having the view over the Grand Harbour towards the Three Cities. Our place was ok and it did have a great view but there were other places available in our street. For example, Palazzo Consiglia, which looked nice. There is also a luxury hotel on the other side of the harbor from where we were but this place had a pool: The Grand Hotel Excelsior. The cost was double that of our apartment but a pool would be nice if you’re there in the heat!
- Do a Valletta Walking tour. We used Colour My Travel.
- Take the audio guided tour through St John’s co Cathedral
- Take The Malta Experience.
- Visit Gozo, but get a fast ferry there and use the hop on hop off bus to get around so that you can spend the time you want at each site.
- Coffee in the morning from Lot 61.
- Dinner from TasteTaste.
- Visit Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk but via open top bus and not on a Sunday.
- Visit Mdina and Rabat and take a walking tour.
- Cannon blast: visit Upper Barrakka gardens at either 12 noon or 4 pm to witness the daily cannon firing.
- Groceries: We used Arkadia food market.
