Sunday 2nd October

The forecast for the morning has been for rain however we woke to grey skies and, thankfully, no precipitation. This was a much better morning for the London Marathon runners; in fact probably the best as the sun, when it comes out, still packed quite a punch.
We had a fairly slow morning but decided to walk up part of the Marathon route and past Buckingham Palace. It was eerily quiet still at 8 am as the streets were all sectioned off but still rather empty of any spectators. The elite runners weren’t due to start for a while yet.
Our plan for the morning was to head up to Regent street and browse the shops but this ended up consuming our whole day. I had been the one who wanted to go and do a bit of shopping but it wasn’t me who came back with two bags of shopping! It was almost 5 pm by the time we got back to the apartment so we had a bit of time to rest before heading out to dinner at a nearby Indian restaurant. It was our last night in London and we had decided to dine close to home. We’d had two late nights in a row and were looking forward to a relatively early evening.
We check out of the apartment tomorrow morning but are spending the day in London, with another walking tour, before heading out to the airport at 5 pm for our late evening flight back to Sydney via Singapore.
Dinner tonight was at Cyprus Mangal which was ok but not nearly as nice as our Turkish meal the first night at Kazan.
