On to Falmouth, Cornwall.

Monday 18th June Monday morning was overcast, but at least the wind and drizzle had gone, so I was able to get out for another walk along the Hoe. Mark had been quite chilled during our cannon tour, and was feeling rather poorly as a result, so took the extra hour to sleep.

One day in Plymouth.

Sunday 17th June. It was overcast on our final morning in Torquay but we got a walk in before setting off for Plymouth. Plymouth is only an hour from Torquay so we detoured via Salcombe along the way. What a pretty part of the world this is. Salcombe is a small seaside town in south… More

Torquay: last few days.

Thursday 14th June. There was a bit of rain to start the day but it soon cleared and allowed Mark to head off for a bike ride with his new BFF’s from the Mid Devon Cycle Club. He was home around 2 pm and so we decided to spend the afternoon visiting Totnes Castle; a… More

Dartmouth Castle Day.

Wednesday 13th June. The plan for today was to visit Dartmouth Castle and surrounds before going to Marks & Spencer’s to pick up something for dinner. We dined our last night at a great French restaurant down the road, Bistro Pierre which we thoroughly enjoyed, but dining at home with our great view is pretty special… More

Torquay: first few days.

Sat 9th July 2018 It was another sunny day that greeted us for our last morning in Hastings. We took one last walk before setting off for the 5-hour drive to Torquay. The Sat-Nav took us by the shortest route but that had us almost in London at the half-way mark! The journey was fine… More

Battle of Hastings day.

Friday 9th June 2018 The weather has been very kind to us for our stay in Hastings. Our last full day was one of glorious sunshine and little breeze making for a pleasant morning walk and ideal conditions for visiting Battle, the site of the Battle of Hastings.

Hastings Old Town tour day

Tue 7th June. Poor Mark had a rough start to the day. He rose at 5.30 am to head out in time to meet his fellow bike riders at 6.30. Unfortunately, as he was soon to find out, they meant 6.30 PM!  He took himself off a for a bit of a ride and I… More

Pevensey Castle Day.

Monday 4the June We caught the best part of the day for our morning walk as the sun actually made an appearance. That was short lived though as by the time we got home the cloud had set in and the temperature dropped. The markets weren’t suiting my system this morning and so we decided… More

Sunny Sunday and Mark’s big ride.

We woke to the most glorious morning, the best of our time in the UK thus far; the sun was shining, there wasn’t any fog and it was relatively mild, albeit at just 14 degrees. Mark set out for his 108 km bike ride with the Hastings and St Leonards Cycle Club and I set… More

Hastings; first couple of days.

Friday June 1st 2018 It was a pea-soup fog and 14 degrees that greeted us for our final morning at Ramsgate and the first day of summer. We took the southern coastal path for our morning walk with a final visit to RVP for coffee. As per usual, no other patrons out exercising in their… More
