Boiling Pot day

Saturday 25th July

It was another wet morning. I ended up heading to the gym for a little while while Mark did some yoga and he also went down to at his favourite coffee spot, Noosa Social. Our plan for the day was to visit Eumundi markets, to pick up some coffee beans for our experiment from Flying West and, then, to visit Boiling Pot Brewery before making it back to the hotel for Mark to watch the Swans.
The Flying West cafe / roast house is located about 15 minutes out of Noosa on the way to Eumundi markets so this worked out well. It is located in, sort of, the middle of nowhere being one of a collection of light industrial units. The roasting house / warehouse has a cafe at the front which was quite busy considering the relatively remote location and the weather; clearly this place has quite a following. Mark had a coffee whilst we were at the cafe and said it tasted just as good as at Noosa Social so, at this early stage of our experiment, it seems it might be down to the coffee beans.
It was only about a 10 minute drive on to Eumundi markets and, despite the rain the place was absolutely packed. Luckily for us though, with just a little bit of driving around, we ended up finding a street park. Sadly however, Eumundi markets and umbrellas do not go well together and so we only lasted about 10 or 15 minutes before heading back to the car and setting off for Boiling Pot brewery. This was good timing as the brewery opened at 12 and we were lucky enough to get one of the two remaining free seats. Like with the Flying West coffee roasting venue, Boiling Pot brewery is located in a light industrial area just outside of Noosa, at Noosavile. It’s a great venue being modern, clean and comfortable and is obviously very popular as the place quickly filled up: we were lucky to get a spot! The only problem we had was that Mark really needed a beer buddy to help him enjoy all the beers. I didn’t quite live up to that task 🙁
It was still raining when we left the brewery so we decided to head back to the hotel. Mark watched a couple of games of football in the afternoon and I did a little bit of blogging and some window shopping along Hasting Street. We had cancelled our restaurant booking, because it was at 5:30 pm and clashed with the Swans game, but then realised what a struggle it was going to be to get in anywhere for dinner. There was only one restaurant that could squeeze us in and I suspect that’s because it may not be very nice. Time will tell. PS: Cafe Le Monde ended up being ok.
