Burleigh Heads: first two days

Accommodation: AirBnB. Unit 116 Level 18, 72 The Esplanade, 116, Burleigh Heads, QLD 4220, Australia.

It was a beautiful morning in Southwest rocks and Mark set off for an early bike ride before we both went out for a walk. We got away from Southwest rocks by about 10 am and headed to Coffs Harbour to have breakfast at Urban cafe. This is another place with been to before and we are keen to head back to as they have my favorite açai bowl. From there it was on to Burleigh heads.
Our apartment at Burleigh heads is located right across the road from the beach on the 18th floor and has spectacular views. It’s a two bedroom apartment but the rooms are rather small so it’s really only suited for one couple; I wouldn’t recommend it for two couples. Also, it was promoted as ‘luxury’ but I wouldn’t go so far as to use that adjective.
We had an early dinner booked with marks colleague, Phil, and his wife Greta and meet them at Mr Hizola’s. This is a restaurant that offers modern Cantonese cuisine with a busy, high energy vibe against a backdrop of rather loud music.

It was a beautiful morning and so we set out for a walk around Burleigh Headland. This was about a 5 km round trip but was up hill and down dale through the National park headland.
Mark went for a bike ride after that and i did a bit of browsing of shops along the short but punchy James Street. I was so laden with shopping after browsing one half of one side of the street I had to return home. The rest will have to wait for another day.
We headed up to Pacific Fair to have lunch and as we needed to buy some supplies. It was our first time visiting this shopping complex and we were very impressed; it is lovely; well laid out and with every shop you could imagine; from the affordable end of the spectrum to high-end designer shops. It is a masterpiece of architecture that our nephew, Harry, had worked on so it was nice to see some of his handiwork. We didn’t dwell here long though, as one never does when Mark is in tow, and we headed back home to rest before visiting a local brewery. Precinct Brewery, Miami, is about a 15 min walk north from the apartment and set in a converted smash repair style shed. It all looked rather fresh and new and Mark particularly enjoyed the Oatmeal Stout, as did I. It was starting to get busy by the time we left but we wanted to duck in home to pick up an extra jacket before walking down the road to Burleigh for dinner.
Dinner was just down the road, a 10 min walk, at Justin Lane. We were able to get a seat in the upstairs roof-top bar and we stayed there for dinner as well, rather than take our booked table downstairs. The food was great and I’d recommend this place if you’re ever in Burleigh.
