Galapagos Islands: 21/6 to 28/6 Just back from a fabulous week on a cruise around the Galapagos Islands. Didn’t lose Tom overboard ….this had been a main concern of mine. We visited about 5 of the islands and were treated to some spectacular flora and fauna: the beautiful Blue footed booby bird (a favourite), sea turtles, giant tortoises (truly amazing creatures…can look at for hours on end), Yellow warbler birds, Galapagos penguins, sea lions (which we swam with), sea and land iguanas, Darwin’s finches and….the list goes on. The geography and geology was a feast for the eyes as well. I had a close encounter snorkeling one day where I thought I was being attacked by a bull sea lion and worried that this was where I was going to lose Tom. Turns out, it was a female just wanting to play with me. I screamed so loud that I worried our guide on the beach to no end. We were to swim with them again over the next few days. Mark and I may be on to a new business idea. We, who had some trouble sleeping leading up to the cruise, were carried off to sleep by the gentle, and not so gentle, rocking of the boat. Was much akin to being ‘in utero’ I mused. Thus, ‘rocking beds’ may be a money-spinner! We are back in Quito now and head to Lima tomorrow. Typed in haste…forgive the typos. Adios!
