Hopo Day

Friday 21st May 2021

It was another lovely sunrise to meet us on our last full day in Burleigh heads. Mark went for a bike ride and I went for a walk and then we both met back at home and tried out the pool and spa downstairs; it’s a very pleasant sitting down by the pool.
After that, we showered changed and headed into Burleigh Heads Village and went out for breakfast. Breakfast was back at a cafe we’d been to the other day and it was full and obviously very popular but their acai bowl left a lot to be desired. Marks breakfast was though.
The main shop we went to after breakfast was to David Smith, I had spied the shop a few days earlier and was determined to bring Mark back here and to purchase at least one item. Well, without any argument, we ended up purchasing him two shirts, two pairs of shorts and a pair of socks and he’s actually going back tomorrow morning before we leave early to pick up another shirt. So I would call it a success. They are a pair of local guys, David and Scotty, who design and organise the manufacture of their wares and both were in store helping me to convince Mark about the suitability of the shirts.
The plan for the afternoon was to take the Hopo on a tourist circuit. This is a fairly new Gold Coast Ferry that services a few ports around the waterways of Surfers Paradise. We took one complete loop, and this takes about two hours, but got a great look at the properties along the waterways. There are plenty of photos attached.
We headed home after that to pack up a bit before heading out for a last dinner out to Rick Shores, a well known and popular restaurant in the Burleigh Pavilion complex. This was a great night and the food was amazing. We’d booked well in advance and so got a great table and the food did not disappoint.I’d highly recommend a dinner here if ever in Burleigh.
