The day started off early for us and quite cloudy but we headed out for a walk to the commons. We were assured that we would see some deer and, that we did. We saw some rabbits too and some interesting bird life.
We headed back to Chase Lodge to shower and have breakfast and then headed back into Kingston to do a few chores. Our plan for the day was to visit Hampton Court just near our B & B and then to drive down to visit Salisbury Cathedral, about a 1.5 hr journey away.
Hampton Court dates back to the 1500s and was a favourite Palace of King Henry VIII. The magnificent Gothic Salisbury Cathedral on the other hand dates back to 1220 and was built in a mere 38 years. The Cathedral also house one of the best copies of the 4 surviving original Magna Carta documents but, sadly, this exhibit was closed for a week so we weren’t able to view this. Most annoying!
Anyway, after leaving the cathedral we headed back to Heathrow to drop off the hire car and then on to Terminal 3 to make our way home to Sydney via BA15.
