Vik, Iceland

Friday 14th July

It was an overcast morning in Reykjavik so it was a good day to be leaving and heading to Vik. We had  lots of scenic stops on the way as we covered a distance of about 200 km and these included:

  • Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
  • Skofagoss waterfall: had a killer staircase to view the top of the waterfall
  • Kvernufoss waterfall: had to hike in for about 10 minutes
  • Sólheimajökull glacier: also had to hike in for about 10 minutes
  • Black Rock Arch / Dryholaey Lighthouse

We didn’t get to our accommodation until 5 pm and we were booked in for one night at Hotel Vik. Mark was exhausted by the time we arrived so luckily the hotel had a bar and restaurant and we didn’t have to venture too far for dinner. Our hotel was rated as 3 star but Mark kept saying it was 5 star compared to Balestrand! We had a lovely room and a lovely dinner; doesn’t get much better than that!
