First few days in Bali

Sunday 15th July 2018

This is just a brief update of activities for our week in Bali to celebrate Matt’s 30th birthday. It will be rather repetitive with each day being something like: breakfast, pool time and reading, spa treatment, sunset drinks followed by dinner…repeat!

Mark and I traveled with Garuda on their 10 am flight that put us in Bali at around 3 pm. There was the largest crowd we’d ever seen waiting to get through immigration though and so we didn’t leave the airport until around 4.30 pm. Mark and I stayed at The Royal Beach Seminyak but Matt and Annabelle stayed at The Alila.

We settled in to our room and then had a sunset drink at the main pool area before heading off to meet up with Matt, Annabelle, Jackson and Lua for dinner at Kilo.

Monday 16th July.

Mark and I walked up along the beach to meet Matt and Annabelle and we then went on up to The Alila to check out their hotel. It was lovely. The rest of the day was spent by the pool before our 2 pm Spa Bali treatments. It was just Matt, Annabelle, Mark and myself for dinner so after sunset drinks at our hotel, we headed up to Made’s Warung for dinner. There was entertainment which made the night more fun with delightful young Balinese girls doing traditional Balinese dancing. They were amazing and the food was good too!

Tuesday 17th July:

Mark and I caught up with Annabelle and Matt for a beach walk before they went to visit Matt’s family, who had arrived the night before. Mark and I then went shopping at Seminyak for the morning and, whilst I was on the hunt for some things, it was Mark who came home with the shopping bag!  We then headed home but I stopped off for a facial and Mark headed back to our pool. Mark and I had one drink at our hotel’s Happy Hour before walking up the beach to meet the rest of the family for dinner at La Luciola. We were lucky to have the private dining room for the night and this was a great evening to celebrate Matt’s birthday and recent exam block.

Hi guys, Glad to read how things are in Bali. Why change a perfect routine? Sounds great, particularly with the freezing cold we are suffering in Sydney, so enjoy every minute. A rather envious and rugged up Janet
